Still Feverish, Almost An FO

I am sick with the flu, so I haven't been feeling up for much lately. In fact, I started this post on the 25th and didn't manage to finish it 'til today! The flower pics are from the 25th when the snowdrops were just going by.

The crocus were getting started and are still going strong now.

The frilly daffodils are still on their way to blooming.

Shoots like the bleeding heart are coming along now, if I can keep the rabbits from devouring them or digging them up.

Black Raspberry just needs a little more seaming (just the sleeve seams, but the tricky caps are done) and some ends need to be woven in. I was happy to get the neckline done as it was a little tricky for me to reverse the shaping.

The new PS3 has been good entertainment while being sick. I have played Motorstorm and have opened all the tracks and and gotten over 500 points. I tried playing online one day and won one race, but in other races I got pushed all over the place by the other drivers and didn't do so well. Jeff and I like the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune game, but he is more coordinated at it than I am and has already gotten to the end once.

Blogger Meet Up

Saturday, I went to the 3rd Southern NE Knit Blogger meet up at Mystic River Yarns. It was fun chatting, knitting and shopping with these creative women! The shop is charming, as I'm sure you can see in these pictures. The owner gave us each a shop mug at the end of our meet up.

I worked on my Black Raspberry top. I've knit the front and back sections in parallel. The front is ready to be divided for the v neck shaping and then I will begin the armhole shaping on both pieces.

I purchased 3 skeins of Mountain Colors weavers wool quarters which I have not worked with before. I initially picked them for socks. This one is meadow:

This one is sapphire trail which I thought might be good for Jeff either as socks or wrist warmers. He balled up the skein for me last night while we watched TV together.

I balled this yarn which is called winter sky and thought it was just too pretty to have hidden in shoes and cast on for a scarf instead. It's the Misty Garden pattern from the book Scarf Style. It's a very different yarn than the one used in the book, but I think mine will be nice in different way. It's knitting to the same width. What do you think? Should I keep going with it?

This and That

I've finished the front portion of the shaped lace tee, so now I really must stop procrastinating about frogging the back a little to re knit it a bit shorter. It's been a rather strange feeling to be knitting a lacy summer top with a wool blanket I keep over the back of the couch in winter pulled over my shoulders!

While procrastinating on the shaped lace tee, I've made a good start on the front and back sections of black raspberry, working them in parallel.

Cold weather always makes me want to cook, so I can stand next to the warm cook top or oven! A few nights ago I improvised in the kitchen and made this chicken marsala. It's not at all healthy, but it's fall comfort food and tasted soooo good!

Saffy and Silas are enjoying the crisp fall air as they have nice furry coats to keep them warm. They were intently watching a squirrel when I snapped these pics.

Sleeves!

I stayed up late last night to finish these sleeves. I always make the mistake of thinking I am basically done when I get to the underarm and then realize all over again that the sleeve caps are bigger than they look!

My fingers are tired from handling the summer tweed, so I'll probably wait a few days before casting on for the body pieces. The sleeves will need some pressing, but I'll wait to do that to all the pieces together before seaming.

My Favorite Purple...

...has to be the color of black raspberry ice cream! It’s pretty to look at and delicious to eat!

This is Rowan Summer Tweed in lilac (discontinued), but it will always be black raspberry to me. I have formed an association between yarn and ice cream since my favorite yarn shop is right by my favorite ice cream stand. I have cast on for a v-neck top from the Rowan Summer Tweed pattern book.

I was a little worried about working with Summer Tweed because of the stiffness and lack of elasticity, but I'm doing ok with it as long as I take breaks to rest my fingers. I do find it a nuisance to have to stop to pick out the splinters of plant material spun into the yarn!

And you probably thought I’d forgotten about Project Spectrum! Not so! I am right on schedule starting a purple project. Of course, I’m still working on pink in the form of Tea Time! I’m good at starting...I’ll have to work on finishing!
